Cleanse, Quench, Protect, Rest and Enjoy!

I’m often asked when talking about natural skin care and organic skin care products, whether there are any quick fixes for keeping our skin looking and feeling great.

I’m not so sure these are “quick” fixes but they are my top 5 tips for keeping your skin in tip top condition...

1. Cleanse, cleanse and cleanse again
Cleansing is one of the most important elements of a good skin care routine – but is something that we tend to overlook. Sometimes we rush this essential skin care routine step – and focus on moisturizing.  In fact, good cleansing with a natural cleanser is key to good skin and we should thoroughly cleanse our skin twice a day – once in the morning and again at night; and never, ever go to bed with your make-up!

Cleansing removes dirt, debris, make up and all the impurities from the day.  It leaves our skin ready and prepared to receive products that keep our skin hydrated and in good condition.  If we apply natural and organic skin care products onto skin that is dirty, we are not giving the products the chance to really work and be effective.

2. Quench your Skin’s thirst
When our skin is dehydrated it can feel parched, tight and sometimes flaky and it lacks that radiant, plump glow that hydrated skin has.  It’s important that we hydrate our skin internally as well as externally.

We all know we should drink at least 8 large glasses of natural mineral water every day – more if we’re exercising. But we should also select natural and organic skin care products that hydrate your skin and keep it in tip top condition.  Products that contain natural mineral water will help hydrate your skin but other naturally active raw materials can help keep moisture in our skin.

3. Protect
Good skincare involves protecting your skin against the damage done by the environment, pollution, our diet and our lifestyles.  A large number of environmental factors can really damage our skin – leading to skin inflammations and signs of premature ageing.

Anti-oxidants can help protect our skin against the factors that cause this damage and they are found in natural raw materials such as Vitamins A, C and E (see my blog on their importance).

4. Rest and Repair
The phrase “beauty sleep” isn’t a myth – it’s a fact. Having a good, peaceful, uninterrupted 8 hours sleep isn’t just good for the soul – it’s good for your inner natural beauty.  A good night’s sleep really helps keep our skin looking and feeling radiant, glowing and healthy.

Using a specialist treatment at night can give skin an extra boost. At night, our skin is resting and has time to repair itself and with the help of a night time treatment natural balm your skin gets all the help it needs to restore its natural beauty and radiance.  You wake feeling refreshed and your skin will mirror how you feel – you’ll be glowing inside and out!

5. Enjoy Life to the Full
This last time is less about skin care and more about lifestyle.  We all know that when we feel good, we tend to look good.  A smile is contagious – the more we smile at other people, the more they will smile back.  When we feel happy, we look happy.  And when we’re happy, we’re radiant!

In a stressful, busy world, it’s hard to make time for ourselves – we don’t always have time to relax and enjoy ourselves but whether it’s just a few minutes peace and solitude, or spending time laughing with a friend or a cuddle with a loved one, try and give yourself some time every day to enjoy yourself, your friends and your family. You’ll feel great about yourself and your skin will thank you for it too!
